We examined the burden of disease from COVID-19 using attributable mortality, which accounts for not only the effect of infection on mortality but also the prevalence within the population of interest. Data included COVID-19 deaths between February 1 and October 10, 2020. ![]() We used data from the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), 3 which provides weekly updated, national data on the count and distribution of COVID-19 deaths and total deaths by age and race/ethnicity.
